Biofilm carrier disks BFTS

We have been providing the foamed HDPE carrier material for biofilm carriers in our group of companies since 2010. Our biofilm carrier disks (BFTS) are used in biological water and wastewater treatment in the fluidized suspended bed process (MBBR) in both industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants.

Our carrier material has been specially developed for the elimination of nitrogen and the degradation of carbon compounds. The development and production of biofilm carrier disks (BFTS) is carried out in our own laboratory and technical center. The entire production process, including the cutting of the BFTS, is integrated into our manufacturing process.

The production of the foamed carrier material, the processing of the material into round, parabolically curved discs and the sale are all carried out from a single source, so that we can produce according to customer requirements.

Advantages

Other carrier materials such as cylindrical floats with inner chambers have the disadvantage that they have a smaller active surface area and the relatively large spaces between them either become overgrown with biomass and thus hinder the supply of nutrients and oxygen or only take up volume.
Compared to other manufacturers of disk or chip-shaped carrier materials, our BFTS carrier material has the advantages of a more even pore distribution, a protective outer ring and a plastic density of > 1 g/cm³.
As a result, the BFTS sink more easily and complete mixing is achieved more quickly.

We can offer our BFTS with a diameter of 25 to 35 mm in any thickness and with any color for the core and sheath.
The established and common standard product has a diameter of approx. 30 mm and a thickness of 1.1 -1.2 mm and is now preferably offered and used in sky blue.

Together with our planning engineers, we support you in the following areas

  • Design, basic engineering and
  • calculation of the required BFTS quantities

and adapt our biofilm carriers to your requirements.
By making special adjustments to the raw material formulation and production, it is possible to specifically influence the following aspects, for example:

  • promoting bacterial growth and
  • Geometry (diameter, thickness), density, foam cell structure and coloring,
  • UV stability and
  • prevention of calcification (paper industry).
